Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) Leads the Charge Towards Global Excellence in Accountancy

Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) National President, Atty. Randy B. Blanza, shares the recent appointments and partnerships that have positioned Filipino accountants at the forefront of global developments.

PICPA, the country’s premier organization for CPAs, has solidified its standing as a global leader in the field. Over the past six months, key figures within PICPA have been appointed to prestigious international roles, signaling a new era of collaboration and influence.

Ms. Gladeys Jill A. Santos, former President of the Association of CPAs in Public Practice, has been named a member of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) Professional Accountancy Organization Development and Advisory Group (PAODAG). This significant appointment underscores the Philippines’ commitment to promoting best practices and knowledge sharing in the global accountancy community.

Similarly, Dr. Erwin Vincent G. Alcala, immediate past National President of PICPA, has been appointed as a distinguished member of the ASEAN Federation of Accountants (AFA) Working Committee 3 on Professional Accounting Organization Capacity Building. Dr. Alcala’s role will focus on enhancing the professional accounting landscape across the ASEAN region, further cementing the Philippines’ role as a regional leader.

Not to be outdone, Atty. Randy Blanza, current national President of PICPA, has been elected as one of the Board Members of the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA). This appointment not only highlights the Philippines’ influence within the Asia-Pacific region but also opens doors for collaboration with 33 national professional accountancy organizations representing close to 2 million accountants.

In addition to these appointments, PICPA is actively pursuing partnerships with global organizations such as the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and Certified Global Management Accountants (CGMA). These collaborations aim to provide Filipino CPAs with greater opportunities to practice internationally, particularly in markets such as Asia Pacific, the USA, and Australia.

Of particular note is the ongoing dialogue between AICPA and PICPA regarding the possible administration of the Uniform CPA Examination in the Philippines. This development could streamline the licensure process for Filipino accountants seeking to practice in the United States, further enhancing opportunities for global mobility.

As PICPA continues to spearhead these initiatives, the future of Philippine accountancy appears brighter than ever. With a commitment to excellence, innovation, and international collaboration, Filipino CPAs are well-equipped to shine on the global stage.

These developments and appointments are a resounding testament to the growing prominence of the Philippine accountancy profession on the international scene.
